Get your costumes ready – it’s time to celebrate Halloween, Indian Trail style!
The Halloween Spooktacular will return to Chestnut Square Park on Friday, Oct. 20, running from 6 to 9 p.m. and including a little bit of everything – from a trick-or-treat line with some 60 local businesses handing out candy to a free pumpkin patch of more than 700 soon-to-be Jack-O’-Lanterns. The first 2,500 trick-or-treaters to arrive will receive a wristband to take part in the candy crawl line. Parents will not need a wristband, but children must have one to take part in the trick-or-treat line.
The evening also will include a ton of free activities and events for monsters, ghouls and goblins of all ages and open to all. There will be several Halloween-themed crafts to take part in, as well as carnival games, the giant free pumpkin patch, storytime with the Union West Regional Library at 7 p.m., and a showing of the hit animated film “Hotel Transylvania” at 8 p.m. The Spooktacular also will include a return of the fan favorite Costume Contest at 7:30 p.m., and youngsters are invited to dress up for a little friendly, spooky competition. A wristband is not needed to take part in any of these events.
“Our Halloween event gets bigger and better every year – and we’re very excited to unveil a couple new, awesome activities for families to enjoy this year,” Indian Trail Special Events Coordinator Hayden Kramer said. “We look forward to seeing what unique costumes you’ve come up with this year as we celebrate Halloween in a safe, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Indian Trail Parks and Recreation Department hosts a number of cultural events and programs throughout the year. Chestnut Square Park is located at 320 Chestnut Pkwy.
