Street Sweeping Program

Town to Begin First-Ever Street Sweeping Program on May 18

Beginning the week of May 18, the Town of Indian Trail will initiate its first-ever Street Sweeping Program.

Established in response to federal and state clean water regulations, the program will remove debris from streets and gutters before they can enter the storm drain system. The removal of dirt and debris from Town streets will provide a healthy, safe and attractive environment for the residents of Indian Trail.

Town streets with established curbs will be swept on a semi-annual basis. Approximately 100 miles of curb will be cleaned during this project. State roads, private streets, unincorporated Union County roads and alleys will not be swept.

A full list of streets that are maintained by the Town of Indian Trail is available here.

Residential street sweeping will occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on week days beginning on May 18. We estimate the process to take eight days. To provide optimum service, the Town is asking for residents’ cooperation in moving automobiles and other items into driveways and off the street and curb on the days the street is swept.

General information for residents regarding the Street Sweeping Program:

  • Street sweeping starts at 9 am and ends at 4 pm.
  • Vehicles should not be parked in the street.
  • Items such as portable basketball goals, bikes, garbage carts, & yard debris should be removed from the street and curb.
  • Items should be placed a minimum of 5 feet behind the curb.
  • Street will not be swept on assigned garbage pick-up day.
