1. How are codes enforced?

Enforcement is typically initiated in response to a complaint by an individual or as an observation of a code violation by town staff as they patrol the community.

2. Does code enforcement responsibilities include neighborhood codes, covenants and restrictions (CCR) for Home Owners Associations?

No, the Town only has authority to enforce adopted town regulations.

3. Can I report a violation anonymously?

4. Is my neighbor allowed to have a derelict car in their driveway?

All vehicles are required to be currently licensed and fully operable if they are parked within public view. Vehicles that don’t run must be parked in a fully enclosed building or be covered with a proper fitting car cover (maximum one). Dismantled vehicles stored outside of an enclosed structure are also prohibited.

5. Do I need a permit to add a porch, etc. on my home?

A zoning permit is required for structural additions to a residential home. These additions include decks, screened porches, or conversions of garages to living area. Detached structures also require permitting. The intent of these regulations are to ensure building codes and zoning codes such as minimum separations between property lines are observed which protect the property value of your investment and neighborhood.
