On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Town of Indian Trail will partner with Firefighters for the Cure for a 5K event. The 5K will begin and end at Chestnut Square Park (320 Chestnut Parkway). Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the race will kick-off promptly at 9 a.m. Those interested in participating can sign up here: https://runsignup.com/firefightersforthecure5k.
All funds raised stay local and benefit Firefighters for the Cure, whose mission is to unite and support local communities in the fight against cancer. Their goal is to provide 45 uninsured women with mammograms and follow-up care. A mammogram bus will also be onsite at the race.
The 5K will begin at Chestnut Square Park, heading down Matthews-Indian Trail Road toward Stallings before turning onto Flowe Drive, then onto Smith Farm Road and back to Matthews-Indian Trail Road to end at the park. Matthews-Indian Trail Road, Flowe Drive and Smith Farm Road will be closed from 9 to 10:30 a.m. as part of the event.
Awards will be given for the top male and top female in each age division as well as the overall top male and overall top female.
