On Monday, Oct. 21, the Town of Indian Trail celebrated the opening of the new artificial turf field at Chestnut Square Park. With help from the Carolina Panthers' director of community relations, Riley Fields, Sir Purr and the TopCats cheerleaders, the crowd was riled up and ready to take the field!
Led by Sir Purr and the beat of the Sun Valley High School Marching Band Drum Line, youth athletes, cheerleaders and kids from across Indian Trail ran through the Panthers' Cat Head to cut the ribbon, complete with fog machine for dramatic effect. After a ceremonial ribbon cutting, kids had the opportunity to try out several football skills stations set up on the field.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us, as well as Publix of Indian Trail for providing the refreshments.
We would also like to sincerely thank Mr. Fields, the Carolina Panthers, the NFL Grassroots Program and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation for their generous donation, support and collaboration in making the artificial turf field a reality for Indian Trail.
