Residents were once again “Holiday Heroes” for families across Union County this holiday season. On Dec. 17, representatives from the Town of Indian Trail, Bakers Fire Department, Hemby Bridge Fire Department, Stallings Fire Department, and the Indian Trail Bureau of the Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) dropped off truckloads of toys collected by residents and businesses to the Christmas Bureau in Monroe.

Holiday Heroes collects toys throughout the weeks leading up to Christmas to be donated to children in need across Union County. The Town partners with the fire departments, UCSO and numerous businesses to collect as many new, unwrapped gifts as possible. The businesses that participated this year were: Extreme Ice Center, Curves (Indian Trail), Hair Worx, Mia Famiglia (Indian Trail), Firehouse Subs (Indian Trail), The Bridge Restaurant, Nemo’s Reef, Gotro Chiropractic, Frutta Bowl, STEP’s Academy and Hourly Kids Play.
The Christmas Bureau organizes all the donations and passes them out to families throughout Union County.
“Thank you to all of our partner businesses and organizations, as well as everyone who donated to Holiday Heroes this year,” said Abbey Ball, Indian Trail communications coordinator. “Because of you, thousands of kids across Union County will wake up to presents under the tree on Christmas morning who might not have done so otherwise. This is the season of giving, and it’s incredible to be part of a community that cares so much.”
