Former Indian Trail Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem David Cohn was named to the Indian Trail Town Council on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. He was sworn in Tuesday night and took part in the remainder of the meeting.
Cohn, who previously served two terms on the Town Council from 2011-2019, has filled the seat of Councilwoman Shirley Howe, who resigned last month due to health reasons.
“While Shirley Howe can never be replaced, we have to fill her Town Council seat,” said Mayor Michael Alvarez. “The Town Council felt that David Cohn was the best person to step into the role, and I agree. As a two-term councilman, David is already familiar with the opportunities and challenges facing Indian Trail, and he will work well with the current Council until a new member can be elected.”
Councilman Todd Barber made the nomination to appoint Cohn to the Town Council.
Cohn will serve on the Town Council until a new councilmember is elected in November of 2021. The person elected next year will serve the remaining two years of Howe’s term.
The next Town Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 315 Matthews-Indian Trail Road.
