Indian Trail is hosting its first American Red Cross Blood Drive of 2021 on Tuesday, March 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carolina Courts (240 Chestnut Parkway). To schedule an appointment, visit www.redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code IndianTrail or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
The recent severe winter storms that impacted most of the United States have resulted in many blood drives being canceled. Donors are needed to maintain the supply.
For those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine, there is typically no deferral time needed before giving blood has long as they are symptom free and feeling well at the time of donation. For more information on the COVID-19 vaccine and blood donor eligibility, visit https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/coronavirus--covid-19--and-blood-donation.html.
According to the Red Cross, blood donation is a safe process, and people should not hesitate to give blood. At each blood drive, Red Cross employees follow thorough safety protocols.
If you are in good health, please consider donating.
The American Red Cross will also be doing no-cost COVID-19 antibody testing on all donations.
We would like to thank the American Red Cross for their partnership and Carolina Courts for generously hosting the event. The Town will host three more blood drives this year scheduled for May 11, September 7 and December 14.
